Abstract

Graphic design interacts with the Saudi society, expressing its visual culture by presenting topics that address the audience to the visual message. This appears in many fields, especially health. Where we find a wide range of infographic posters, which are the easiest way to present health information and instructions. These posters vary in design levels, which affects the degree of their comprehension by the audience. This study focused on analyzing the structural foundations for designing the visual elements of a set of awareness posters presented by (Live Healthy) campaign of the Saudi Ministry of Health. These posters received by many members of Saudi society from different societal and educational groups. To determine the best structural foundations for designing the informative infographic poster, the researchers followed an analytical approach, by studying a sample of 50 undergraduate students using a questionnaire. The results were summarized as: (1) Adding unnecessary elements to infographic posters negatively affects the visual perception of the content of the poster so that attention is distracted from the basic elements. (2) Applying the structural foundations of infographic posters makes the poster more clear and easy to understand. (3) The interrelationship of poster elements and building relationships between them depending on the design scheme of the poster to gradually accommodate the elements between the main and sub-design elements (4) The interdependence of the concept of the poster with its elements based on the structural foundations of the fixed infographic, gives the poster aesthetic values that help achieve its functional purpose.
